Overview

The aim of these intensive sessions is to build our understanding of structural inequality and particularly how these influence genomics and science more broadly. How can we embed equality, diversity and inclusion in our research culture and in our public practice? The sessions, led by expert trainer Vanessa Mignan, will take us on a journey to comprehend our own way of working and the necessary changes to make sure we are making our science accessible to all.

The masterclass consists of two three hour sessions, and you will be expected to attend both, as they are continuous.

Who is this for?

This is for anyone who wants to address inequalities and work towards a way of communicating science that is truly open and accessible. The masterclass will only take a maximum of 8 participants, so we’re looking for public engagement champions who truly want to make a profound change in the way they relate with the public and communities more specifically.

What skills will you acquire?

To become aware of the mechanisms of exclusion, in order to create a project that takes EDI into consideration from the outset.

Where will you use this?&

In all your public engagement activities, encounters with the public and, especially, when designing your own project with communities.
