Genomics Lite: Biodiversity Genomics in Focus

Exploring how genomics can be used to monitor biodiversity

Date:

Thu 23rd Feb, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

About the session:

Insects play a vital role in our ecosystems, but up until now it has been notoriously difficult to perform any large scale monitoring of their populations. In this session you will hear about how DNA sequencing can tackle this problem and learn more about an exciting project called BIOSCAN, a UK wide insect population study using these very techniques. Our guest speaker is Physilia Chua, a postdoctoral fellow for the BIOSCAN project at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
