Campus Visit Programme Postponed
Sadly due to the developing situation around COVID-19 we are having to postpone all campus events until further notice. Please do check back to this page or email us engage@wellcomeconnectingscience.org for updates.
We offer year-round opportunities to visit and explore the Wellcome Genome Campus and discuss the latest topics in genomics with staff. Over the past year we’ve worked with patient groups, schools, the Social Mobility Foundation, Women’s Institutes, the University of the Third Age and many more.
Typically, visitors can explore the history of the Campus and find out about the latest research projects which involve almost 2,000 researchers, scientists, technicians, bioinformaticians, software developers and support staff. Many of these staff are involved in leading a visit, which includes seeing the world’s largest DNA sequencing facility, computing centre and exhibition zones interpreting genomics.
In the past year, we welcomed several thousand visitors from across the UK and beyond – including Denmark, France, Japan and the United States of America.
There are two main ways you can explore the campus, depending on how large your group is, All are FREE to take advantage of and details are listed below:-
1. Open Saturdays and evenings
- For individuals, families or small groups, we currently have a regular (ticketed) Open Saturday on the third weekend of every month, where staff will be on hand to guide you through our latest exhibition and offer tours across the Wellcome Genome Campus. We also host open evenings and other campus based events, the latest details of which can always be found on our Events page.
2. Pre-bookable visits for school groups
- For schools classes or education groups please visit our school visits page. Please be aware that we no longer provide group visits for university groups.
While we can’t guarantee specific dates can always be accommodated we’ll do our best to be as inclusive as possible.
